Dang. Someone beat me to it. But yeah, the hood struts are pretty generic as far as I know, so any auto parts store should carry something that will work. If not, there's always the stealership.

Autozone has them for 24.99 IIRC, or www.partsamerica.com, 20 bucks a piece.

However, all of the aftermarket ones are "GENERIC". They come in appropriate length but have exatly the same end fittings which are then `adapted' to fit specific cars. I would go to a store and `look in the box'. Possibly take them out to the car and see if you want to mess around with the mounting hardware.

IIRC, the generic ones that come with just the strut (where you have to pop the old strut out of the ball and socket joint to replace with the new strut) are a biatch to install.

If you're near CA area partstrain offers cheap nissan parts for your maxima. I've had my bumpers ordered from them.

So all the generic ones are PITA to install? The only ones that are direct bolt on are OEM correcT?

I got the ones from autozone. They lasted 6 months and then the hood fell on my head. I carry around a bat in the trunk because they don't work when it's cold out. It seems like the OEM ones lasted much longer, but they are like double the price of the autozone ones.

The genuine Nissan replacement struts are also difficult to install. They do not come with the ball joint and I had to use a Dremel to remove the ball joint from the old strut. That was three years ago. Maybe newer Nissan includes ball joint with the replacement struts now.

I think the 40 bucks includes both... you aren't going to find them any cheaper than that....
