Have an issue with the paint
I had my rear bumper repainted about 2 months ago. Like a month ago, I noticed that the bumper was losing its shine and when I touched it, it had this gritty texture to it. So last week, I took it back to the shop. They tell me that its tree sap that got on my bumper and that I should wash the bumper. Do you all think that they are right or are they just bsing me. I mean only the bumper has lost its shine and not any other part of the car. I mean the sap got on top of my trunk too, didn't see any lost in shine. So, anyway, what should I use to wash it off? I know regular carwash will not take it off. Thanks
i would use a clay bar to get the sap and other fine debris off the car. clay bars work wonders on making the car surface super smooth. i got my bar from www.griotsgarage.com -- they give a bigger piece than the "clay magic" bar. i have tried both, and the one from griots was a softer, more pliable bar (didnt crack when i was kneading the clay).

Well I just used Mother's clay bar. It got my bumper very smooth but it tore the $hit out of my paint. Anyone with any other suggestions before I take it back to the shop. Anyway thank you guys for your help, atleast it doesnt feel gritty anymore.
what do you mean "it tore the $hit off my car"? did the paint flake off when you rubbed the bar across it? sounds like maybe the paint job wasnt very good?
also, when you used the clay bar, you did spray the lubricant before rubbing away?
good luck.

I meant it felt like i took a layer of paint off. The color of the bumper is way off from the rest of the body. The paint didn't flake off but when I touch it, it feels like very smooth sand paper but is still better thanbefore I cleaned it. Yeah I put the lube before I used the bar.
Thanks
Thanks
