good deal or not?

I found a red '99 5 spd SE for sale. The car has the usual dings and scratches for its age. The driver side leather is a little roughed up. The guy selling it says it needs a new coil pack. The car has 89K on it and he wants $5500. What price would I be looking for to replace the coil pack and are there any other things I should be cautious of? How difficult is it to replace a coil pack?

hmm, IMO, $5500 seem decent. it's not an SE-L, is it?

Sounds good - I think I paid over $9000 for mine last year. I don't have leather/sunroof, etc. but mine had lower mileage.

Definitely sounds like a good price. As for the coil packs, they're very easy to change. One less step than doing the spark plugs. It took me about a half hour to do all 6 on my '99. They are a very common failure on the '99s. You can get them online in the neighborhood of $50-60 each.
