I am planning on installing new rotors and pads within the next couple of weeks, and I've read about many people using some kind of sliencer or "blue goop" on the back of the new brake pads to keep them quiet.

While at PepBoys the other day I noticed a spray can of Brake Sliencer...I don't remember who made it.

Anyone have reccomendations on a brake sliencer type product?

Brake noise is caused by the shim that goes on the back of the pad vibrating against the pad itself. To quiet it down, put some silencer in between the shim and the pad. I would not use any type of spray. Most times I just use whatever synthetic grease is handy. Just make sure that you put enought to prevent the shim from moving around.
No movement means no vibration, which in turns means...no noise.

Is it a blue can short can? I believe it's made by Permtex. I love that stuff!!!! It's much easier to use than the "Blue Goop" version by the same brand. You will get more goop on the pads than on your fingers with the spray can version. LOL Anyway, like someone said before. High temp synthetic grease would work too. I used both methods and both seems to work the same. I would use "Blue goop" on the back of the pads, but I would use synthetic grease for all other brake parts. I usually put some grease on the caliper rods and some more the metal hardware where the pads will be sliding.

I use the CRC grease (orange), which can be picked up from PepBoys.
