Paint Code?

Does anyone know how I can obtain the paint code for a specific car color without having the actual car around?

The dealer can get you the paint code with a VIN#.
Get the VIN from your registration or insurance card.

I'm pretty sure the code for your I30 was BM1. I've got the same color. It was a '95/early '96 color only. Later dark blues don't have the same kick in the flake.

Its hard to be 100% certain with pics but I'd bet on it being BM1. In the shade or at night BM1 is a very, very dark blue but in direct sunlight its got a really strong silver flake with a lot of kick. That last pic of the light flashing off the mirror is the money shot for BM1 IMHO.

Paintscratch list it as a dark blue pearl from memory and I'd probably buy a can from them, spray some metal and check first.

Just FYI the color is common on '94, '95 and '96 A32's in Australia and Japan. If you google Japanese used car sales on the net, lots of the early cefiros pictured are painted BM1 because it was the only blue offered. In '97 the blue changed and was totally different.

You had a very nice car.
