Cold air intake

Take a look at this DIY intake for a Jeep

Jeep Snork

I know you don't want an intake sticking out of the hood but this will make a good cold air intake where you do not have to worry about putting the filter down low and getting it wet.

This may be the best combination between te WAI and CAI.

Take your WAI and surround it in a box and run an intake down under the car. Time to look for a humidifier or similar box!
