The end is comming.

I brung up this topic because I think this will be the last maxima I own, well it's the only one I've ever owned and it's been great to me for the last 5 years. IMO the 4thgen is the best of the bunch. The 5thgen's and up are just downright fat and ugly. I wasn't even really a FWD fan to begin with. I was stuck with the maxima when I left High School. Now my max is a street monster in the making. I'll prob be done with it in Spring. Then done with school this summer have a better job and then I can finally focus on Road Racing. After this comming up spring chances are you won't even here from me again it's not like you guys care but I've been here on the org longer than you think, a member since 2001 I just changed signatures. Who knows what the future may bring but I know it won't be with any Maxima.

RWD>M>I6>JP

My question to you all is when will you move on? Or not.

It doesn't look promising tho, just way to complicated to go this route. I would just use the 00VI and wait till they start making more IM's for 3.5's and be on the look out.
I'll deff let you guys know later how it went tho I won't hide any numbers.

I will keep my maxima, (despite my parent yelling at me to get a new, honda civic) for the liability, but I only keep this maxima becasue I know there ins't many cars in the market with the amount of power and options the maxima has fpr this price. basicaly the maxima is the best deal for me. but *** soon as I get ut of college I will try to get a new car, don't kno which, I just like to think of other cars.... lamborgini V12 maybe a ferrari.
No I'm not being sarcastic, I am just obssesed with those cars. and I will get it some day.

I will keep my original maxi. I love going to the junk yards too much to find replacement parts. Plus its paid for and I wouldnt really be able to make that much money selling it.

I completely agree with that comment, it is certainly not and hasn't been for a while a "poor man's BMW" ....like it supposedly was...if it went rwd during the 4th gen lifespan things might be different...well maybe..Nissan management was just as retarded back then.

[QUOTE=97SEdriver]So were GTO's when they first came out.

Yeah but look at GTO's now..Big difference there! The GTO has evolved into a real car while the Maxima...Well it's just confused...

It doesn't look like an Altima nor does it look like a over sized 350..It practically has the same power that the 5.5 has just a lil more, (that can be accomplished with an intake and exhaust on a 2k2) and it costs lots. The whole sky view thing is just a cheap excuse for Nissan to try to say they did something new to the interior..Instead of making it a different car aside from the Alti, they made it into a confused piece of work..What a great that was...They should have at least given it AWD or a V8..

I think it's all in my head right now. I've been running with some annoying problems with getting this car running. I overwhelmed myself with to much moding that my budget can't keep up.

I'm the third one at the top left

What problems you got that won't make the car run, just wondering because I know you have a 3.5.

This will probably be my last. Unless I get a Z. I will drive this until the bitter end and try to get my money out of it. I have been craving a star or M badge for the longest time and will have it when I graduate.

my car now is my winter beater ,in a year or two ill get a 95 max from south west and swap my tranny and engine in it and my mods.
My 96 has been ravaged by animals ,people and salt.It would be cheaper for me to get a fresh bodied 95 than spend thousands on my car just getting it to look normal.
In the mean time this jan iam getting a civic SI

My car is at the tranny shop and they want $4000000000 for the work. I knew this was going to happen, I had a gut feeling that they would try and rip me off as soon as they saw the rims on DR's,BBK, SS lines and 3.5 engine etc. they were like "damn you race this thing" and taking pictures and Sh$tt. This is the first time in all my years I had someone beside myself touch my car, NEVER AGAIN!! .

Re read my post, I was agreeing with you. My first statement was pertaining to the assumption that a family car can not become a performance car or a classic one.
57 Chevy's and early BMW's come to mind, Datsun 510's etc..

I personally like my wifes 02 better than the 6gen. It has enough power for me. The only thing I don't like about it is the paint that chips easy. I'm sure the 6gens have the same paint. I wish I could get me a MT one(5gen), but I need my truck to carry stuff and pull my boat.

I have owned two maximas. A fully loaded 96 SE and a fully loaded 02 SE 6spd. The Maxima claims that it is a four door sports are or sports sedan. I'm sorry but by today's standards it most def isnt. I dont think dumping a great V6 with tons of tq into a 4 door FWD body makes it sporty at all. Sure 17s and a spoiler adds to the look but the suspension sucks. The drive tran sucks. The tranny's aren't the best. Horrible turning radius, declining quality. The list goes on. I love Nissans and prob always will, but for those of you out there considering another brand "4 door sports car" take a look around, the cars are def out there and within the price range. Esp if you want to mod your car! The VQ isn't the most power mod friendly like a lot of other cars out there. Just my .02

Being N/A it is.. I like N/A.

I added ~35whp from headers and an intake, nothing else, stock cat back etc.

So .... I guess it matters on what seems mod friendly.

I bought it all used, and the install doesnt take that long (GEN I Cattman) 650$ for all of it, sure more could be had for less, but you didn't acknowklegde the fact that I like being N/A and staying there.

True. I just belive now, looking from the outside, that most people on these forums enjoy modding their cars. And I'm just stating that if you (being anyone on these forums) really enjoys it, The list of alternative cars with four doors within the price range is very attactive nowadays

I think your definition of blow past and my definition of blow past are quite different. Regardless, Maxima's not street monsters. It is like dividing by zero, unpossible!
