The Maxima Christmas Thread
A new set of tires and clear corners to replace the "missing" one. I already have a set of smoked cefiros from last Christmas that is awaiting a set of projectors, but that wont come until the spring time. Around that time you'll see wheels and a big brake upgrade as well. My basement is like an auto parts store.
Mine's getting some C/F cover for the engine compartment, redoing the resin or maybe shoot clear on my C/F hood and some maintenance like change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, sparkplugs, coolant and maybe the power steering fluid too while i'm at it. And last maybe freshen up my brake fluid..... Merry Christmas to everyone!!!!!

My guess would somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30% who actually did what they stated in this thread.

I wonder if Santa will come with a VQ35 and help me pull the old motor, swap over timing chain, swap over sensors, wire up injectors, bring some new motor mounts, bring a new clutch, some drinks while we work, and dispose of the old vq30de motor

I just thought of some other stuff that I need to take care of that would be like getting my car some presents...I guess...
Driverside Heated Seat switch...tired of freezing my a.ss off in Rochester without my heated seat able to be turned on.
Need to fix the lights that illuminate the buttons on my auto climate control - these stopped working after a shop installed my Kenwood headunit.
Hopefully will track down the vacuum leak that I believe my car to have, and will hopefully be able to diagnose it and possibly fix it before going back to school.
Again, need to get my new amp to work so that my RocFos Sub can actually reach half it's potential (using a shotty amp as of now).
I also need to re-aim my headlights...
The car was also treated to a STS, 20% tint not too long ago, so fixing these *small* problems would make the car feel great again...especially taking care of my long time idle situation.
Maybe this doesn't fit the thread exactly, but it should be enough so that I love my car again. I should also be ordering some new polishes/compounds to tackle my swirls that still remain after my last attempt at deep polishing.

I know this isn't the thread to ask questions, but it kinda relates to it being a Xmas gift...for myself that is, ehehe. I'm debating whether I should buy a Maxima 06' SE w/ Elite Package (top of the line) w/o the Navigation system or the new 06' Avalon Touring edition w/ upgraded premium sounds. Let me know if you guys can provide a non-bias advice so that I can make the right decision.

Amen to that. Maintinace before Mods. Would hate to have the cleanest looking Maxima on the side of the road. Every time I get tempted to buy a mod, I remember that money could go toward the new tranny or new clutch.
Must be a good feeling to have a fully functional car, no problems, with some nice mods on it.

If I can get these things taken care of, it would put a smile on my face constantly.
I think of it this way: A power mod will put a smile on my face whenever I'm WOT, which is frequent however, but the second I get off the throttle, and come to a stop, that smile would get swiped right off my face (mainly because my car is fighting for life at 2-300 rpms).
These are the last things mechanically that I can do to my car to make it as perfect as possible, and I dream of the day where my car will have NO problems. I can't imagine throwing the clutch in and not worrying about my idle speed when stopping/cruising.
