Just mounted the new tires and gave it a long overdue wash.

I'm trying to decide whether to ask the gf for a short shifter or RSB...

Thing is, I wouldn't notice the RSB until I got to the twisties, and I don't do that very often nowadays. I'd definitely notice the short shifter all the time because of our stupid ski pole stock shifter though.
Hmm, or springs? But I feel bad asking for springs, too expensive.

Decisions, decisions.

Let me know if you guys can provide a non-bias advice so that I can make the right decision.
Tough decision man, they are both very nice, rather quick, very stylish, and very reliable cars. I honestly like them both for the same reasons for each. All I can say is just drive them both enough to see which one suits you better. Because you will have to live with it for a bit. Look at stuff like the interior layout, features/controls & ease of use, seats, seating position, seat comfort on longer drives, visibility, etc. The practical things, you know the stuff about the car that you have to deal/live with every day, every time you drive the car.

I can say that the Avalon has a way cooler oil filter setup than the Max.

Mine is not getting anything special, just a new KS and coil pack. I was hoping for a Y-pipe but that's gonna wait until tax season.

If it wasnt for the higher tax rate from when I was doing 120 work weeks, I could probably do the swap much sooner.

I was just browsing car-parts, and found vq35's as low as $400! (searching under 03 max)

...getting some PIAA fogs to replace the stock yellow ones. Getting an iPod for it as well. An oil change and a new air cabin filter. Possibly a new grill, and of course the new Zenrin Navi DVD to upgrade from the one the car brought 2 years ago.

My list is growing.

So far it's been new front tires, brand spankin' new wipers (Bosch microedge 21" and 22", work beatifully), and will be a short shifter and probably an aux input Bose mod, so I don't have to use that @#$%ing fm transmitter that is my misery.

I may as well throw a new headunit on my list. My Bose one finally went caput for good earlier

Hopefully I have enough Christmas money leftover when I get my HIDs back...

Awesome, ANOTHER delay to getting a y-pipe

It's a '95...the warranty is definitely out

I'm picking up a slightly older Pioneer unit from somebody for $20 shipped. That's the easy part...then comes the fact that I need a new Pioneer harness for it ($7) and Bose conversion harness ($40+). Ugggh...Christmas

I dont understand what everyones problem is with the stock bose system other than the few people with display problems. I still have my original bose system and it sounds great.

It sounds good to me. I've blown my speakers a couple of times, but the sounds is great to me.

Hey, I'd be happy with a Bose! Right now I just have the base level CD/Cassette player The 4 speaker sound system in my Mom's base level Subaru is better.

I love the sound as well, especially now that I have everything sound deadened (makes a huge improvement, people think I'm full of aftermarket stuff now). It's just the headunit that sucks.

Got the radio to work, actually...it just dies if I try to put in a CD. So I'm not entirely without music, thank god.

Even though I don't own a Maxima, my Altima is still getting a lot of stuff for christmas. Once all my stuff sells, I'm getting it some springs, a stillen lip and a "racer-style" grille.

God bless,
Gene

my 175,000 mile maxima has gotten all of its gifts already since september..

New Clutch
New Flywheel
New Transmission
New Transmission Oil Seals (2 times...the first ones were defective)
New Front Axle
New clear corners

Not to mention from April to September:

New spark plugs
New spark plug wiring
New coils
New $580 NITTO NT450 Tires
halogen lense lights off eBay
New Shift ****

Oh yeah...I forgot...I'm getting floormats that the previous owner didn't include.

I think I win the award for the most high maintenance Maxima from 165,000 miles to 174,850 miles...i think I've replaced everything that could possibly break down on the car.
