What happens when a tow truck forgets his e-brake and parks behind you

I was home from work longer then an hour when there was a knock on my door. It was the girl from next door coming to tell me that the tow truck that parks behind us just rolled back and hit both of our cars. So I go out and snap some pictures and got the owner of the tow trucks insurance info. The guy was very apologetic, gave me all his info and that was that. Just sucks that it damaged 4 pieces I’m just hoping it all goes smooth with the insurance company so I can get it fixed soon.

Here are the pictures:

You should have no problems with his insurance company. I would get a police report besides the pictures that you have. Your ins. co. might need it.

Yeah I know, it happened at 8:30PM so it was dark.

Thanks for the encouragement about the insurance guys. Can anyone else who's been in a similar situation let me know how long it takes to finally get it fixed? Im wondering if the insurance company will cut me a check or have me go to a shop and just pay them what it ends up costing.

Now is your perfect chance to get 2k-2k1 SE black tail lamps and a CF trunk if that floats your boat.

Good luck with the repairs.

....well something similar happened to me just last week. I left my car at a shop because I was getting some custom work done. I went to pick it up last Friday and that's when the owner told me he accidentally side-swiped my driver's side fender. Needless to say he paid for everything, including rental. I don't see why you would have any problems whatsoever with the insurance company. Good luck.

Yup, S**t happens... My brother is a mechanic, he totalled someones Evo 8 last year on a test drive after he did work it...

He is lucky because it was not his fault, it started to rain really hard and some a** nailed his brakes, swerved and nailed my brother. The guy was not pissed, he got a brand new Evo right away since its a mitsu dealer.

I would have been PISSED.

Really good thing that it was dealer work and not an independant or something.

Even though it sucks your car got damaged it sounds like the rest went pretty well since your neighbor came to get you and the tow truck driver was apologetic. I hope you get everything sorted out and repaired quickly!

Yes the black tail lamps would be nice! The CF trunk is a little to rice boy for me though.

I imagine everything will go smooth; I just have to wait till the insurance companies are done playing phone tag
.

My car was rear ended the morning I put my last payment in the mail. The driver who hit me had a good insurer. They sent an adjuster out to my house to assess the damages to my car. They have deals with local body shops in my area that you can take you car to if you want. I got my check from them within a week of the accident. I ended up buy the parts myself and had the bumper cover painted at a dealer body shop. I installed the parts myself and pocketed about $175. You should get a police report just in case. Good luck with everything.

Only if the police say that it is. Won't hurt to try though.

There is really no need for it. My neighbor and I were both hit and I have about 30+ photos of the accident. The tow truck driver admitted fault so it actually went pretty smooth as far as accidents go. I would have got a police report if the guy didn’t admit fault. I reported it to my insurance and got my claim number and an adjuster is supposed to call me soon.

Okay the tow company is being really cool and I went in and got my estimate at lunch today. It came out to $1683.00 and a repair time of 8 days. So I'm guessing they are just going to pay for this out of pocket. Guess I should consider myself lucky that it’s going so smoothly.
