Rear D2 Coilover Installation help.

I am having trouble installing my rear D2 coilovers. It seems like the top hat bolts won't go into the holes on the car. It seems like the top hat is a little wide. Has anybody had this problem? I can dremel the car holes alitter wider but I don't want to do that. The fronts went on without a hitch so I think they are for the 4th gen. Any help would be great.

thanks

I believe the rears should be the same between 4th and 5th gens. The 4th gen version of the d2's include the top hat (which may be produced wrong in this case). I believe foodmanry's front d2's couldn't fit because one of the front lower brackets were machined too narrow and couldn't fit into the knuckle.

Measure the top with with your current stock one and see if they are indeed different

i had the same problem - i just gave them a little "positive reinforcement" and they eventually popped in. however i wouldnt force them to much if you can see that some dremeling would help.

They are off by a few mm. Here is a quick pic that I took of them.

That stud on the left on the top hat looks slightly angled outward.

See if you can align the stud on the left first. Like Tom said it looks angled outward. If it still does not fit correctly notify the person you purchased them from. It is possible there is an issue with it at the fabrication process.

I thought For D2's you don't need to re-use any stock parts
Just take off stock and pop in new ones. 5th gen's need new top hats for the rears

thats no good. the 5th gens dont have the studs so you must reuse the upper mount.
