I put some in and I was wondering if I still need to start my car at all periodically over the winter or not. I was just going to charge my battery a bit every few weeks or so and then do an oil change when spring comes.

To answer your question, yes, I've used Stabil in my Max when I knew it was going to sit for a long spell. Stabil does an excellent job and does not cause any problems that I've seen; and I use it in all my gas engine items (tractor, snow blower, weed wacker, etc.) including my exotic when I store it for the winter. You should also consider doing an oil change before putting the car in storage, and getting a decent battery maintainer (Griots, Battery Tender, etc.) to keep connected while the car(s) sit; keeps the battery in top condition, extends its life and eliminates having to start the car or periodically hook up a conventional charger. I've used maintainers on stored cars for years without problems......................and you are better off not starting the car, short engine runs are really bad for the engine. I do not start any of mine unless I intend to take them out for at least a half hour run.

Stabil works great! I winterize boats every fall and use stabil and they start right up come spring. Good to disconnect the battery though too.
