Moving on from the Maxima community, but staying in the family...

Here is a quote from my post on another message board. I went from a VG auto to a VQ35 6sp. WOW....night and day.

-------------------------------------------------------

After several posts I took the plunge and leased my SE-R. The only hicup is getting the gray inserts instead of red. I thought the red was sharp, but the nearest one they could get the way I wanted it was in Rhode Island. Thats around 450 miles away and my local dealership wasn't really thrilled about going to get it. They kind of stalled a bit and they called an offered me 200 bucks off the lease total if I would let them get a gray insert car. I said go for it. In the end....its covered up by passengers anyways (although I did think the red stiching on black leather was killer).

So.....

Black 2006 Altima SE-R, 6sp, TCS/Air Bag, sirrus, gray inserts

I love it..period.

Few issues:
1. Will probably switch to sythetic gear oil....dislike the coarse engagement when cold.

2. Snow tires. Kind of irritated I have to spend big bucks for some kind of snow combo (I knew this before I bought the car). Trying to use my old maxima for the next two months (March 1st is a magic number)

Thanks for all your pre-purchase help!

The VG is a good motor. Its just that the VQ makes way more power everywhere and driving a standard is fun.

Oooh, sounds nice!!! I think I may get one of those once I move on from my Maxima. Dealerships always hate trading cars. The Honda dealership in my city wouldn't make the effort to get a Black Accord Hybrid for my Dad so instead we drove 800 km to the next city to get it and received better service anyway.

Enjoy the Altima! I would suggest getting steelies for your winter tire so those nice SE-R rims will stay in good condition. Too bad you still have to pay lots of $$$ for the larger size!
