i was removing my old iridium plug and it just completely snapped in half, the ceramic part is out of the car but the hex part is still inside along with the threads. now if it was just this simple i would simply put in the socket and pull out the rest of it, but, when the ceramic snapped two pieces of that crap wedged themselves betweenthe hex thread and the valve cover wall, how the hell do i get it out?!?!?!?!?! ive included some pix to better illustrate the situation....

try some bubble gum on the end of your socket. take the socket, get some (somewhat dry) gum on the end so that it makes contact with the part that's broken off and try to get it stuck to the end of the socket. Might work.

doublemint? sticky as hell when sorta dry...

if that doens't work, run to a hardware store and get a claw pickup tool. it's pretty slim and should be able to grab onto the broken ceramic pieces.

I was serious about a VERY strong vacuum.

 

Pack some grease in the end of the socket. It'll stick.

 

I used a long pair of needle nose pliers when that happened to me.

 

Ooh, I didn't read the whole thing. Forget what I said then Make sure don't let the ceramic fall into the combustion chamber!

 

A shop-vac with a retro-fitted nozzle will have enough suction to get those bits of ceramic out.. (just based on s0bers idea).

well heres what happened in the end, i ended up coming home from work because my patient didnt show up, i ended up getting the ceramic parts out with a retro fitted shopvac nozzle (a taped on clear plastic tube), got as much out of there as humanly possible, pulled out the rest of the broken plugs, vaccummed some more, sent the plastic tube inside the combustion chamber, and vaccummed some more (being safe). then put in the new plugs and called it a day!

WTF r u serious, ive changed more plugs than all of the sw put together, ive just never had any of them break on me like that little sone of a ***** did...

HAH! I doubt you've changed more plugs than me, I should be crowned sparkplug change king..

I think i've changed my plugs more than oil...

Anyways, I told you to use a vacuum u damn nooblet, you thought I was playing o.O

 

That would be the correct way to grab anything down there.

Every 3K, :P But I had some problem with fouled plugs after running uber rich a few times.. teehee.

 

w/e point is, i now need a bottle warmer and pressure gauge ASAP!
