(I drove both of these in Australia at a ralleye event where they were in attendance from a local club and available for "test runs" --- in the parking tarmac, not the ralleye course --- so I wasn't able to really "push" them very hard under 50mph). Also driven a base-model Aussie-spec mid-80s Skyline as a rental car, which was about like driving a Honda Accord IMO.
OT- I stand corrected on you driving the AWD, but IMO the R33 was never really a good GTR . there were too many design flaws, that BTW were fixed in the r34. Most people that I know that have driven GTR skylines, didn't like the R33. So, if you have a chance drive an r34 GTR,you might like it.

no trips to japan anytimes soon there's only one in this area that I know of, and the guy has a huge ricey fart-can on it...he always does "drive-bys" to autocross events to impress the teenagers, but I've never seen him actually competing

I'm not saying I don't love the skyline....I'm just saying it's not the greatest car ever like some people act like it is...I have no doubt that I'd like to have one

you are correct in that it is not the best car out there (Kinda on the heavy side), other alternatives such as the FD3S are just as good; just that they lack the atezza AWD. And if you were to drive an R34 I wouldn't want to drive one with a fart can. If only the people that had them in the US didn't make them ricey and actually put parts that would add HP and performance.
