MPH Problem
#16
I had a '92 Mitsubishi that did that. Suddenly wouldn't idle so I had to drive like Barney Rubbel with both feet, one for brake and one for gas jus to get it to not die at a stop light. Mitsubishi said that I had to tune-up the car to set the idle! There wasn't an adjustment screw or anything. I also had to buy a new "idle motor control" for like $200. Cost me about $320 to get the car to idle right again! Ouch.

instead of driving like two feet, do what i did when i had an idle problem. adjust the throttle cable so it idles higher, like you're stepping on the gas. my problem was an intake leak. it was pretty small, but caused my motor to idle bad at first, then it just stalls. check for that. perhaps change ur air filter. look for vacuum leaks. basic idle causing problems

I went to autozone and had them do the free diagnostic,as i had the same problem and it came back with 6 cylinder misfire and gas cap.I bought a spark plug hoping it was a fouled plug, anyway i get home eager to put the new plug in and i check the fuel injector connector for 6 and it was loose,i pull it out and there was a freaking pebble in there keeping it from plugging in all the way.I removed the pebble and plugged it in and it ran great no more low rpm headlight or instrument panel dimming. The check engine light quit flashing and
stayed on so i figured now i have to fix the gas cap problem, but after 50 to 80 miles it completely went off.The missing and dimming only happened below
1500rpm's so i guess it was plugged in enough to push enough current to supply fuel at high rpm's.I just thought i would share this story because its pretty weird,i mean how in the hell does a small rock get in there its almost as if it had been sabotaged. This probably won't help you,but it may who knows.I just had to tell everyone about it.Oh, i also have a 96.
