Since plain H20 is far superior in terms of cooling than coolant, isn't it best to use plain H20 (plus Water Wetter, of course) rather than coolant?

Re: Freezing - Adding some antifreeze will solve this problem. A mixture of H20/antifreeze will still cool better than coolant.

Re: Boiling - There should be no problem if your fan & cooling system are operating normally & the H20/antifreeze mixture is constantly flowing through it, right?

I guess this would be good for people who live in temperate climates. Thoughts? Opinions?

Nope...

Half 'n half, no matter what. Your car needs both.

No your car really does not need both. Some folks in the racing community will use 100% distilled water + Water wetter. Provides FAR better cooling. Remember that green stuff is really anti-freeze. Use it in the winter. I run a 70/30 mixture, 70% water... here in texas I don't freeze that often if at all... and 30% is more than enough to cover me... Adjust based on your climate though.

That's what I wanted to hear! More H20 = better cooling. How many quarts does the whole cooling system hold (if I were to do a flush, that is) ? I gotta figure out how many gallons of distilled water I have to buy =) I'll probably use a 75/25 mixture plus a bottle of Water Wetter.

Shing, remember straight water does nothing to prevent rust/scale/corrision or help lubricate the water pump. For racing, straight water is probably fine.

True true.. but we are hardcore, what's a little rust anywyas? ;-)

yeah, Jeff's right... thus a little antifreeze is good...

I see your considering my advice Jeff..hehe
anyways, yea, lots of track racers run all water and a bottle of water wetter. The water wetter supposely has the lubricating and anti-corrosive additives for the water pump. My bro, some friends as well as myself run all water, 1 bottle water wetter(12 fl oz), 1 bottle coolant(12 fl oz) I only advise this in our CA climates. With freezing temps, use more antifreeze/coolant
