Tranny help? Can't get into R

Yes, cant get into reverse. the N seems to be the drive position after a little burn out. hmm, the linkage may be off so help is needed to show how to correct it.Please help thanks

Auto trans I assume. When my tranny died, I could shift into reverse and first but the car would not move.

Don't drive the car if you can help it before you get it checked out.

I second that......

when my trans died my reverse was the first to go. looks like your burnout might have caught up to you!! anywyas, looks like you're having the same prob as this guy here-->

if thats the case..

i just had the tranny swapped to about 15k. GOt a rebuilt one too. bummer, if this tranny is jacked already.

another is that when i put it in neutral, the car goes forward? Why is tat, the only way i get the car in reverse is when i turn off the engine and the car rolls back. hmmm

It definately sounds like a linkage problem. I'll bet if you inspect both ends, you'll find the problem.
