A while back, I posted that I had got beaten by a Procharged VW Sciroco. We ran from a 20mph roll and he gunned it shortly after I changed to 2nd at 20mph because I didn't think he was gonna race. Needless to say, he walked me by 3 cars to 90 because I was stuck in 2nd at 20mph.

Last night at the track he showed up and I wanted a piece. I knew that if I could use first gear, I might edge him out due to the lack of torque with his small motor and topend producing SC. Amazingly, Saturn and Jupiter were aligned and this guy and myself got lined up to race. We looked at each other before we strapped our helmets. I had a smile and he had the look of "whatever dude". We lined up. On the second amber I dropped the clutch. I spun a little then bogged, but my weak 2.38 60' still proved way too much for his little SC I-4 (he launched a 2.55 60'). Thru 1st gear, I must have put 3 cars on this guy. By 2nd I was pulling just a little bit. By 3rd he was making up ground, but he still finished way behind me (2 cars alteast). The results were me with a 15.1@92 and him a 15.6@96mph. As the night went on he continued to bog miserably off the line and run mid 15s at high trap speeds.

On the highway, he owns me. At the track, I own him in front of a crowd. Which would you rather have?

BTW, before you make fun of my times, you should know it was 75 degrees and 85-90% humidity. Yep, 90% humidity. Best of the night was a 15.0@92mph with me hole shoting a LS1 F-Body to the 8th mile. I also beat a 50-shot 200SX SE-R (15.1 to his 15.7).

DaveB, Nice kill. Gotta make you feel good beating all those boosting and spraying cars while being NA yourself.

Not that its the same thing. But I wasted a NA Sciroco once. Friend of mine from the place I used to work at had a riced out 5-speed. I just got my max then. All I had was the resonator elbow mod. He said his car could run low 15s. One day after work I followed him.. And with a evil grin on my face at the light I looked at him. It was on. Lets just say, I didn't see him after 1st gear. I pulled more than 3 cars on him through first. It was clearly over after 1st gear. I'd rather have a Corrado than a Sciroco.

Hey Dave!

Dave can you make some sense out of that GA F body ET Correction page fore me. I want to see what my times adjust to for 95F and 85% @+400'. What do the two corrections actually mean.

Corrected ET/MPH:
Actual Altitude: 14.81 @ 93.52 MPH
Density Altitude: 14.170 @ 97.84 MPH

Corrected ET/MPH:
Actual Altitude: 13.82 @ 101.57 MPH
Density Altitude: 13.219 @ 106.26 MPH

Thanks Matt

Actual altitude is your et corrected just for 400'.

Density altitude is your et corrected for temp, baro pressure, humidity, and altitude. The night you ran, it was like running at 3000' above sea level.

As you can see, humidity is far worse on your car than heat. Play around with it some and you'll see.

Honestly, I think the density altitude program becomes a little flawed when the conditions are so harsh. I think it gets a little generous. I've been told by many that you should add about .2 to whatever you get for density correction.

BTW, nice runs.

Thanks Dave, I kinda find it hard to believe too. I dont think my car could run 14.1-14.3 on street tires NA if the time was correct. But it shure does sound good.

The resonator elbow mod was the father of the OSCAI mod. You basicly remove the elbow that joins the intake scoop to the resonator. That way the engine has more openings to get air from. You use this mod with a stock airbox. It also makes the car slightly meaning sounding.
