so it appears the clearcoat on my Axis Hiros on the lip is peeling. after talking with Axis and WheelStudio, they want me to ship the wheels back to axis at my expense so they can determine if they will replace any of them (there are 3) or just send them back to me. I would be responseible for unmounting the tires, shipping the 3 wheels in, paying for the return shipping, and remounting and balancing the tires. it seems like it would cost me roughly $250 in the end. what would you guys do? i have pictures of it peeling, just not hosted anywhere. one wheel is about the size of my thumb, the other 2 wheels are pea-sized. is it worth $250 or so? can a local wheel place fix it up? Axis and Wheel STudio has been pretty helpful, but i dont want to shell out another $250 and possibly get nothing except my old wheels back.

That is pretty lame. I wonder, if for $250, you can get a shop to redo the clear coat. That would be a lot better than having it sent and and still have no guarantee that they would do something about it. If they don't, then you would be out $250 which would suck. So since you are going to pay $250 for shipping, might as well do it locally. That is what I would do.
My Spiders are also peeling. I'm just going to wait until it gets pretty bad and then have a shop refinish them.
I think Axis might have a small problem with their paint process. Not only is the clear peeling but I have a couple small runs in the actual finish. It's possible that WheelsNext.com sold me some blems as first-run quality.
