I still think it's
that they used the pics without permission, but also think that you're going a bit overboard with putting LatinMax over everything. I mean...you have a cardomain site for people to see your ride (which looks good, by the way)...so what if they see it on some lame webpage other than yours....its almost like a complement saying "your car is the best, so we want a pic of it to sell our stuff"
That said, he should take it down if you ask/tell him to.yeah, it's stupid....but just giving the "alternate view" - remember, I wrote the guy an email in your defense, so I'm on your side.

And yes I would be flatter...if they asked. I just want recongnition for all my hard work, not an attitude.
By the way I have posted this on so many other forums and the stolen pics are coming out of the wood works. Bad news travels fast and there are some really pi$$ed off car owners. I am sure they might get tired of the coverage they are getting.

Since this guy doesn't seem even remotely reasonable, I'd say your best bet is to work with the domain host to shut his site down. Meanwhile, I say continue to make his life miserable. Also realize that being an international crime technically means the FBI can get involved (but they probably have bigger fish to fry).
Best of luck with this. I've had IP stolen from me too, so I know what you're going through. I'm totally rooting for ya.
Gosh I wish I saw this thread sooner.
Whatever photos we post on our cardomain pages or anywhere else, is our property. It's common courtesey and best business practice that if any merchant wishes to use any of our photos for adverstising purposes, they MUST obtain permission first. We produced those photos and posted it so everyone can see our pride and joy. We did NOT intend for our photos to be some stock photo library. Polite or not if we do request a merchant to remove our photo(s), it MUST be removed. If not, legal action can be taken against the merchant.
Now I've seen merchants ask for photos to advertise there products and 99% of the time we all submit pics because we like the product and we want to support them anyway we can. Technically a usage fee should be issued for photos used in advertising. But because merchant's ad budget is minimal they request for loyal customers to volunteer their photos, which is fine as long as there is a mutal agreement.
Now I just read the privacy policy on the cardomain page. If I read it correctly, we should be protected from incidents like these, unless cardomain provides the information. Futher review of all image hosting providers should be examined and questioned just so that if this ever happpens again, we can quickly respond and resolve the situation.
My 2 cents and then some.

I got a pretty good response to my email from them. Basically the same as NismoMax80. Looks like the guy who wanted his pics taken off was a little bit rude in asking. I could see how someone would be offended or defensive when threatened with a lawsuit right off the bat.

Just reading this post makes me disgusted. I'd like to see somebody use my Max for advertising, it has no kit, the headlights are AE modded and they can't use it for the wheels since they're rare now. Quebec laws are a pain in the a$$ since they do things differently than the rest of Canada in many respects.

The road ahead is long and arduous, but the quest will be very fullfilling... Your 1st battle is won, but there are many, many more before the war is close to ending.
Is it possible to report him to the Better Business Bureau or even the Public Service Comission? Although you technically don't have the picture copywritten I would imagine there's a law that protects the original owner. It's like lets say I take a pictuore in a party of a girl who had a bit too much to drink and than decide to get paid and give it to some website. I would imagine that somewhere in there either I or the site that bought the pics would be held reliable for not recieving acknowldgement of this girl. Same thing could apply, but than again I'm no lawyer.
Well, first off, congrats on your car making it to be THE car for their site. It looks cool... If you think about it is cool if they picked your car for their advertisement, but they should have asked you first before posting it... Nevertheless, I'm happy for you that you got it resolved, and not all Canadians are bad

One small note: the part that they advertising they don't make because it is custom, so I don't know what their custers would say when they receive something they didn't order.

.
As a member of maxima.org, I don't appreciate the people who emailed that company and used "maxima.org" to support their email (many members spending lots of $). If you have a personal issue with the company, keep it personal and don't bring maxima.org into it.
