For those thinking about 3000k HID fogs - Any gen with fogs.
It seems to me not very many people haven't done this mod yet. Back in the thread that compares the yellow bulbs against HID capsule, I wasn't able to poll much info. So I said screw it, and went ahead and bought a set for my daily driver (I apologize this wasn't for my maxima....but I figure this is good info for any maxima owner with foglights).
Anyway, I picked up a set of Halo 3000k H3. Comes with the bulbs, ballasts, harnesses, mounting brackets, and 3m double sided tape. My install was rather strange because of the lights I have, but basically you figure out how to get the wiring into the light since you have a pair of wires to get power from the car....goes to ballasts, then another pair of wires to the bulb. The wires were in a pretty beefy loom. I ended up drilling a hole in the access cover and fishing the wires that way. Just be sure to seal up the hole so moisture doesn't get in.
Anyway first take was....wow...that's a lot of light. I got these to supplement my HID headlights. There is a very distinct contrast of yellow versus white. The beam pattern is wide and low...but it has some hot spots...which I figure is from me bending the cutoff in the lamp a little so it wouldn't touch the bulb. Anyway, I shot off a couple pics, but when I get my car tonight, I will get more night pictures.
Enjoy.

looks nice...
what did you mean by this, though?
Are you talking about this thread that I made? I thought it was pretty clear

Nah, the thread was pretty clear (and I enjoyed it very much, it was a great thread.
)...but I asked a question about a comparison between the capsule, the bulbs and a 3000k bulb...but there wasn't much response to it the last time I'd check. So I kinda figured that it was probably still a bit of a grey area. Sorry, I re-read my sentence and the came off totally wrong.
I do have to add at certain angles, the yellow is nowhere comparable to the lexus capsules, but at certain angles, it certainly can compete.

nice. for soem reason, camera, angle ,time of day or fog design. they dont seem as bright as i thought they would be. they should be even brighter than 4300ks right. myabe its just me. even still i still want a set. in time i guess.
Actually that isn't correct. 4300k is the most optimal color for light output. Anything above or below it looses output. In this case the bulb is coated. 3000k is optimal for severe weather (heavy fog, rain, snow) because it's job is to illuminate the sides of the road, and the yellow gives better contrast. In comparison, there is way more light with these than a regular H3 halogen bulb. I have night pics which should help out. Those pictures I posted it was still daylight out.

Alright here are some night pics:
In car with just fogs on. Low and wide on the outside...hot in the middle...dammit I need projectors.

With low beams....man I need to reaim my lights....I mean seriously...wtf.

Headlights disconnected, camera with flash.

looks nice! why didn't you put them in the max? it's ok, though. I have a weakness for Volvos! I'm probably going to do the capsules in my fogs just save a few $$, but if that wasn't an issue, i would go for HIDs as well.

I put the yellow capsules in my fog, the output is pretty good for halogen h3. Hid would take the cake though for a fog setup. The worst part about doing the capsule conversion is the seperating the glass from the housing. It is not like the headlight sealant that gets soft in the oven, this stuff is like rubber or something.
You definitely need to aim the headlights, you may be able to aim your fogs too. I know the 4th gen has minor adjustments for the fogs.

I reaimed my lights last night so they are much better. I have beam height adjustment only on the fogs. Spent about a good hour trying to get it right. I should probably follow the chiltons more though.

those foglights look pretty sweet. You sure they didn't have h3c bulbs, or did you get those? Maybe you can still place some lexus capsules?? N-E-WAYZ
