1)how much will the time differences be with closed windows compared to all open windows?

2)how many carlengths is a .2 second difference?

1-I have no idea. Usually the drag strip wont let you drag unless your windows are rolled up. THey cant be down. At least not here in NJ. Its mainly for safety reasons.

2-.2secs is about a 1/4 car to 1/2 car length.

1) Windows have to be up

2) It's about 1 car for every .2 when your talking about 13-15 second cars. You also must consider the reaction times. If I leave with a .6 second reaction and you leave with a 1.0 second reaction, I'm already well ahead of you. My et might only be .2 better than yours, but you gave me a .4 second head start and I put 3 cars on you. Make sense?

You'd probably be slower. Mostly stock autos have trouble getting off the line because you can only launch at 2000-2200 rpms. The 5 speeds can launch at whatever rpm and they've got a lot more torque multiplication therefore better acceleration. Drag radials would bog the auto off the line. The reason you'd need drag radials is if you had a blower or NOS.

For autos, at least get better tires. I ran with the crappy stock Goodyear RSA tires and didn't get good traction at all. Btw, I launched at 2k rpms and manually shifted to get the best time out of the auto. When I left it in Drive, I only got a 16.0, however, I only ran once leaving it in Drive. I wouldn't leave it in D, unless you have Don's VB upgrade.

About the window thing, I didn't know that you had to leave them up. Mardigrasmax told me that if I had the windows down, it would create drag. I don't know if the place we raced had any rules stating that it's mandatory for us to have the windows up. I can tell you one thing, with the a/c off and the windows up, it was HOT as a ****! Track condition early in the day was 130 degree!
