Using an electric buffer...
As with any power tool, it's easy to go too far
I wouldn't know why you would need to use it every time you clean your car, but these things are useful for removing swirl marks and light scuffs & scratches IF you are extremely careful and DON'T use any added pressure to the buffer.
Let the weight of the buffer be enough and be very careful not to burn the finish with the edge of the buffing wheel.
I've used the Meguires Fine Cut cleaner/polish to remove light rubs and scratches on the bumpers and also bird stains on the roof.
You can take some polish and practice on another car or even on a washing machine to get used to your particular buffer. Get to know how much of an angle you can get before the wheel 'grabs' and leaves swirl marks. Just never push down on it when your moving it around, and you can get some good results.
