the latest rumors from magx are:
the US will probably be getting a RWD skyline powered by the vq35de and badged as an infiniti.
sad thing is that skylines are losing their straight sixes in place of v configurations. to all that may b*tch and complain bout how the GT-R will be one ugly **** if it's based off this XVL-skyline, remember that nissan is no longer planning on making the GT-R just a gussied up skyline.
The long awaited new model will be equipped with a V6 engine, instead of traditional straight- six unit.
There will be two types of engine on three grades. The basic 250 GTe and 250GT will be equipped with 2.5 liter directly fuel injected VQ25DD engine and the top grade 300GT will be equipped with 3 liter directly fuel injected VQ30DD V6 unit.
The new 2.5 liter VQ25DD engine will produce 215ps/27.5kg-m and 3.0 liter VQ30DD unit will produce 260ps/33.0kg-m. The maximum power of the 2.5 unit is 15ps more than the RB25DE engine equipped on the current R34 Skyline.
However, only automatic transmission will be available for the new model.
250GT Four, the 4WD version of the 2.5 liter model, will be added to the lineup in late September.
The size of the new Skyline will be 4,675mm (L) x 1,750mm (W) x 1,470mm (H). Both front and rear overhungs are rather short.
The difference between the XVL, the show model displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1999, and the V35 is the location of side markers. The V35 has them on the horizontal line which separates bumper/fender panel, instead of at behind the front wheel arch.
The Lane-Keeping Assistance system, which assists the driver's steering action to keep the car in its lane under unstable conditions, first equipped on the new Cima, will be optional.
The price of the new Skyline will be rather high and starts from 2,500,000 Yen approximately for the basic model and the top range 300GT equipped with real leather seats and other luxurious items will cost around 3,600,000 Yen.
