My friend has bee buggin me to race me ever since I got my car three weeks ago. He has a 97 Max SE and I just got a 98 I30t. My car is stock and my friend has a few mods (exhaust and suspension) plus he has a manual. Anyon think I should race him? Also, whats the differences between an I30t and a Max?

You are going to lose. You basicly have the same car. Except he has a manual. He will walk you after 80 or so.
Maybe earlier since you are stock.

I'm assuming you have an automatic. You could be beaten by your friend, if he is a average shifter. The I30t and the Maxima are mechanically the same car, with almost all ofthe differences being cosmetic. But if he has modded his car, I would make the assumption that he is a good driver, and think that you should lose. However, there always is that one special car... Like the GLE-R!

you will lose

in essence, you are racing the same car, except his is slightly modded and he has a 5 speed whereas you are a stock auto. you are going to get beaten from the start. but it will be nice to see how close you can come... race him for fun and let us know how it goes.

yeah my friend did win the race. but we recently raced again from a rolling start (about 40 mph) and I had him all the way to about 105 where he passed me and by 120 he was ahead by the front ¼ panel. He has intake too now

yeah...i've raced my friend in his 97 SE vs. my 97 I30. he beat me all the way throughout the standstill start. Then we tried a rolling start as well and i got him at the beginning but he pulled away around 110 or so...

what's the best way to race an auto???
start in 1st
accelerate to 8,000 RPM
shift to 2nd
accelerate to 6,000 RPM
shift to D
and just step on it?

do all this without taking your foot off the gas???

what do you guys think?
