That's what I love about TN, at least the area I live in, in comparison to where I used to live in Maryland around 95 and 495 - drivers around here actually will merge out of the left lane at the earliest opportunity if they see someone coming up on them.

the "fast lane" IS the "passing lane." whether or not it's designated by law, all new drivers are taught that the left lane should be left open whenever possible for people who want to pass. those people might be speeding, but that's a whole different issue.

During a rally I was in last week, we all got pulled over for impedeing traffic. The cops told us that no matter how fast you are going if you arent in the right lane, laws say you must merge to allow the faster traffic through.

Now for the story about why we got pulled over. There were 20 cars, all traveling at 70 (in a 65) in the 3rd left of a four lane road. We had a Semi at the rear tailgating very badly, then had 10 cops on us and all got pulled over. The truck driver called in and reported we were going 40 and blocking all the lanes, I guess because he was upset at all the Minis. They were nice enough to let us go, and tell us the rules before we left. Moral of the story, most of the general public will be jealous of you having fun, and will call the cops to ruin it.

They actually had the story on the local news today. Some government official was on and actually said they were breaking the law b/c they were creating a moving road block which is clearly stated as being illegal.

instead of jealousy, ever cosidered that people actually have places to GO, not cruise mindlessly on the public roadways....

i never said i support. i was just trying to be unbiased. and as far as the law goes, they are not in the wrong at all. but personally, that is really a pain when people drive like that in the wrong lane.

We did have a place to go, thats why we all were cruising with the traffic, excpet for one semi that was being a jerk. For most of our journey we were traveling at 70mph, which is 5 over. And also every once in awhile we all have to floor it and leave the traffic behind. In NO way were we causing any sort of traffic impedement.

very interesting video. It takes some brave souls to prove such a point in order to get valid point accross. If some of you dont experience this then you wont fully appreciate the video. It doesnt make sense when your driving down a 4 lane highway (400S) and the speed limit is 55mph, but I kid you not, no one drives under 60-65mph in the slow lane!

I hope they raise the speed limit in certain areas to a more apropriate speed.

Sometimes your have to break the law to help inforce it.

That is why we were all taught to drive with the flow of traffic on the highway. These kids should have just gone and read a book.

That wont hold up if you explain that to the judge in court after getting your speeding ticket.

What a bunch of arseholes. Lucky for them they weren't trying that in Texas, especially Houston. There would have been 'incoming'. Get rid of all speed limits, anyone taking to the road should realise it's part of Darwin.

that is why when I'm driving and I want to go fast, I flash people from far. if they don't move I drive right by them on the right lane. (no honks just drive by)

IBTMFL in another post!!!

That was a funny vid though, and most people where I drive (US101/hollywood FWY) usually go at least 70mph in most lanes on the rare occasion there is no traffic.

They are college students at Georgia State University. They entered that film into a contest held every year for short films. I am not sure if they won or not. One of the kids was mad b/c he got a ticket for doing 80 in a 55 even though the flow of traffic was a lot higher than 55. He wanted to prove or at least show that 55 was too slow for the interstates.

That's how I drive all the way to Rochester from my house, most people are actually pretty good about moving.
