data acquisition refresh rate

data acquisition refresh rate
I was playing around with obd-2 data acquisition on a 97 GXE. The refresh rate was slow. It'd take over a minute for each sensor to refresh. For example, I'd be idling and it would show 650 rpm. I'd hafta hold the accellerator for over a minute before the data acquisition registered 2000 rpm.
Is the slow refresh rate normal? When the unit was plugged into a 2000 SE, the refresh was very fast, quicker than once a second. What gives with the difference?

there's many different things going on there, but you need to monitor fewer sensors to see a quicker refresh rate.
your scanner is also a big factor on it.
I've got a couple of different scanners and one takes about 20 seconds to update a single value even if it's the only one displayed. the other scanner updates them every couple seconds when you have a screen full of data and several times per second when it's the only thing displayed.

My Auterra OBD-2 scanner (works through a palm pilot) is dog slow with "fast scan" enabled. If I disable the fast scan mode, it works a ton faster. Still not nearly as fast as the ECU on an LT1 though.
