I was over at VWVortex.com and someone from there read the VR6 posts in the main forum and 5th gen forum and they thought it was funny. Why? Because they thought it was just bad driving on the Maxima driver's part when racing the VR6s. They even went as far as saying Maximas are fast....if driven correctly. Amem. They are extremely down to earth and know their stuff. These guys are about performance and not big wings, 18" wheels, and fancy shift *****. There's even a banner at the top of the page that reads "If you're looking for $75 shift *****, 18" chrome wheels, and touring wings....DON'T look here. We sell performance parts". Very nice site indeed.

From what I've gathered, a VR6 with an I/E/Chip will run upper 14s if driven well. There was one VR6 that is running 14.6s with a chip, 3.94 gear, exhaust, and intake. His 60' was a nice 2.1. Good times? Yes. Better than a 4th or 5th gen with a y-pipe/I/E? Nope.

Some of my best races have been with GTI VR6 cars. The VR6 jetta isnt really any competition unless he WAY more modded than i am, and i dont really got many mods.

Hey guys.....

How come I only ran a 15.3 in the quarter mile? I did it with my 16" wheels on. I dont know why I ran so bad. I mean I do suck at drag racing....I'm a good AutoXer.

"tons of stereo mods....

Just Put on: 18" White Konig Rated Rs w/ 235/40ZR18"

Right here is why you aren't extremely quick. Weight kills performance. I know you didn't race with the 18s, but I'd venture to say that with the 18s, you got a high 15 second car. Watch out for the Si's.

What were your 60 foots and trap speeds?
Why do you have a boost gauge?

Much Respect

I respect the VR6 GTI and Corrado VR6 of any year. Very fun cars to drive and contenders for sure. Most VR6 I know are cool unlike a lot of Acura individuals.

Re: Much Respect

I have a lot of friends that have VW. 14.8@95 is about the average I think and that is with I/E/Chip. But every now and then I just have to drive my best friends Jetta witch I ran 13.3@107 with nothing else on the car but the supercharger. He got a limited slip dif and new clutch with flywheel, exhaust and stuff. He has raced at the track once since then and ran 13.4@86. He was at Gainsville bracket racing, and slowed down so he would not brake out. So there are some fast VWs out there, but like Glok said they have to REALY be modded up.

I got better times the day I began racing with 205/50/15 BFG Drag radials on my stock 15 x 6 alloy rims. I run them at about 20 psi in front. I inflate my rear tires to 44 psi so they roll more easily. The smaller tires provide what amounts to a lower gear, so I can shift into 4th gear long before the finish, and accelerate fast through the traps. I also dump everything I can out of the car, like the spare tire, jack, floor mats, back seat, subwoofer, everything that isn't bolted down. I also try to run on no more than 1/4 tank of gas, 105 octane. Now if I only could lose about 50 lbs myself, that'd get me about another tenth or so! Good luck.

It I'm not mistaken, not only did Jeff have a ypipe/intake/exhaust, but he also made that run on slicks and had a JWT ECU installed.
