Selling and buying a car in California. Need a bit of help.

I never sold a car before, and I'm trying to figure out what extra expenses will I have if I want to sell my car and buy another one.

I will have to pay sales tax on the car I sell : 8.5% ???
I will have to pay sales tax on the car I buy: another 8.5%???
I will have to pay transfer fee at the DMV: $15 ??
I will have to pay registration: like 200-300 dollars??

Is that correct?

So that for example If a new car costs 10000, I will have to pay 11115?
and
if my car costs 10000, I will get 9150?

Someone who knows please help me out on this.

Whoever buys your car pays the sales tax
Yes, you have to pay sales tax on the car you buy.
Yup, there probably is a transfer fee along with your registration fee.

If you have AAA, do all the paperwork there, beats standing in line at the DMV.

You don't have to pay the registration if the vehicle already has plates and is registered and the tags are up to date ie. you bought a car with tags that are good until November you would just pay the 15 dollars to do the transfer and then in November you would pay the Registration.
