How much?

I am doing a Research paper on modifying cars. I was wondering if you guys would help me out by telling me
1) How much you have spent?
2) When you got started?
3) What got you started on modifying?

Thanks a lot

1. $4k on the 5-speed swap and new stereo, $200 on more audio stuff, $600 on suspension (after the sale of my old parts), $800 on lightweight rims and tires, $85 on FSTB. The rest of the mods (bushings, battery, clutch, brakes, etc.) have just been replacing worn factory stuff with better stuff, so I count those as maintenance.

2. 1.5 years ago, when I got my 5-speed swap. Before that, it was just a beater.

3. My little brother got me into cars. My parents got me the Max... automatic, because my mom is scared of manual. I got kinda foolish one time, and wrecked it... smashed up the transmission, took the opportunity to get the swap, and fell in love. Then fell into a little debt and started hating the car when things broke. Then got myself out, but still kinda resent the car. It's a love/hate thing. The saga continues...

1- About 8K
2- I liked it as a kid, I did my first mod's back in 1980 on a 79 Trans Am, I have been doing them ever since...
3- My family has always modded their rides, I guess it's just in the blood. I must admit, I do like the looks on people when they walk by my car (head turner) or you know, the WOW factor. I also enjoy talking to all generations at car shows and meets.
