New Nissan self-healing clearcoat
The latest Car and Driver has a piece saying Nissan has introduced a new elastic clearcoat finish that will actually "heal" scratches. As long as the scratch doesn't go below the clearcoat layer, the warmth of the sun will cause it to repair itself.
They gave a C&D guy a wire brush to scratch up a car with this finish, then they poured warm water over it and the scratches disappeared.
Makes me wonder if swirls and spiderwebbing will soon be a thing of the past ...

Reminds me of the nano paint that they've been using on higher end cars for a while now...
Problem is obviously that if you have to get your car repaired or repainted, it could be troublesome unless you go to a shop that knows how to deal with that type of stuff.
