Powertrain warranty

My 02 Se is 3 years 9 months old, the factory powertrain warranty is for 5 years. In the future when I sell it, will the warranty transfer to the new owner and what paperwork will I need to prove it in affect?

I am pretty sure that all factory warranties transfer no matter how many owners have it...

Not sure about the papers involved in the process...

the warranty is transferable to all subsequent owners. No paperwork is needed. Nissan service depts don't care about anything other then making a couple of extra bucks through Nissan Motors Co. It is common knowledge to all what warranties Nissan carry, you shouldn't need anything for the future owners.

Actually, it's my understanding that they are paid far less for warranty work, than full retail, of course. There are some urban dealerships that are busy, and they will turn away warranty work unless the vehicle were purchased through them, in which case they want to keep the relationship with the customer for future rip-offs, I mean sales...

They don't get paid less perse, but any warranty work is strictly limited to the "book" hours and the parts are all at cost. Any dealer whom gives preferential treatment to non-warranty sales should be reported directly to NMNA. I have 0 tolerance for any dealers who are shady. Being an employee of several dealers over the years I know exactly what you speak of. It has always been my experience that any complaint that makes it to the GM, ALWAYS gets taken care of immediatly! If you run into a shyster of a GM, go to the next link in the chain of command. Don't settle for anything less then satisfactory.

That's nice in the country, but the city mouse knows differently. If a dealership has overbooked its day, which every dealership and doctor's or law office would do as well, why would they not take care of the customers who bought their car from them?

I can say this much--from my own, personal experience, there is something to Consumer Reports and JD Power. I'm not tooting their horn, merely pointing out that a consumer has to look out for himself, not rely on complaining all the time to get what he's entitled to. that causes premature aging and hypertension, and who needs it.
