i believe the 5th gen max was the first to have an in-cabin air filter, if that's what you're asking.

my 01 ae had a cabin filter from the factory. starting in 00, all of them had places for them but not all came with the filter.

yes. there is definetely a spot for it but if there is a filter or not will not be known til you remove the glovebox.
