Painted Calipers Pictures!

Took all of yesterday to paint my calipers, so here are some pictures!

Incase anyone is wondering, I used 5 coats of Dupli-Colour Engine Enamel "Universal Gold" and 6 coats of Dupli-Colour Engine Enamel "Clear." I know the heat resistance isn't as high as true caliper paint, but I used the same paint on my GTI and had no problems at all.

Also got my sunroof tinted with 5% charcoal; much better now!

Is that a clear bra on your hood?

Oh, the calipers look nice.

It's a Magnet Bra that my brother put on the Maxima a while back. I'd remove it, but I would have to do some work on the hood to restore the paint under the bra

Nice Job, I have always been hesitent to try this because I didn't want the paint to chip away.

I painted my GTI calipers 10 000kms (or 10 months) ago and the paint is still holding up great. It's not as shiny as it was the day I painted them, but it still looks awesome.

I still remember when the hand brake didn't disengage all the way for some reason (lever was all the way down) and after a few blocks of driving, smoke was coming from the pads. After cooling off for a bit, I took a closer inspection and it looked like the paint wasn't even effected.

I painted mine last weekend because one of them had some light surface rust on the caliper. I wanted to keep them close to the stock color so I just used Duplicolor Hi-Temp Engine Paint in the Cast Iron color. I might consider Silver at some future date.

looks great like everyone else said. i like that gold color. i wonder how it would look on a white maxima, but would also have to consider what the rims look like as well.

not a big fan of goooooooooooooooooold :::goldmember voice:::, but nice job though!

Question: How did you prep them? Did you sand them down first? Take the wheels off? Did you take the calipers off or did you paint them while they were on the car?

are the solmia.com caliper covers a good buy or is painting calipers more of a better option? the caliper covers are sorta pricey and caliper paint isn't so... paint has a one up on the covers
