hood pins: hayame brand any good?

just curious if anybody has these, they are pretty inexpensive (much less than sparco) and if build quality is decent i might get them:

Curious as well.

Did you win a c/f hood off ebay? The guy had 4 different auctions setup? Got a helluva deal, couldn't pass it up.

Not a big fan of using aluminum pins to hold something as large as a hood down....it won't have the shearing strength of steel. There's a reason reputable companies like Sparco use steel....

Sparco pins are only $35....hardly "expensive"

Also, I hope this is going on a CF hood....pins on an OEM hood are ultra-

haha did you win one too? it's supposed to be a new C-wings hood, which i think is decent. but i won the auction for $0.99 plus $200 shipping, which is pretty good.

and yes, these hood pins are aluminum, so somebody was saying steel would be better? will it make even a difference if i'm using it on an aftermarket carbon fiber hood? i feel like the steel hood pins would be for super light hoods and racing applications, but these aluminum ones will hold down a CF hood on a maxima no problem. that's kind of why i asked, but if aluminum hood pins really are a no-no, i'll go w/ steel ones.

I won it for the same price as you as well. I kept an eye on it for the 7 days and then with 4 hours left I just said screw it. Placed my bid and went to work.

you know what they say...better safe than sorry. Having the hood fly up when you're doing 90 down the highway is one of the worst possible scenarios I can possibly think of. Spend the extra few bucks and get the good SS hardware, FTW...

No not a thing. The auction said 2-4 weeks or so. I was a little skeptical as well, but I is feedback seems to be positive. So I'm going to hold tight.

I have 3 sets of pins, 2 on the SER and 1 on the Max. The SER has cheepies from Autozone and VIP. They are both crappy and rust after the 1st rain storm. They are around $10 a pair. The scuff plates and screws are cheap. The metal isnt the best either. It seems brittle. My max has Ford Racing pins from Summit and are around $40. They are umpteen million times better. They are stainless steel with nice hardware and scuff plates. The torsion pins do get a slight bit of rust color on them after a year but it cleans off easy. Nothing like the $10 rust *****.

I have installed some Sparco style pins before and they didnt impress me at all. They rusted like crazy also.

I wouldnt cheap out on the pins.
