winter tires in the dry?

dunlop wintersport M3's are the exact tires in question.

i might be able to get a set of wheels+tires, but they come with M3s on them, and i live in california on the coast.. it doesnt snow here. at all. it barely rains.

so will these tires shred themselves in the dry weather here, or will they last me, but just not be as good as real summer performance tires would be?

this might be a really stupid question, but ive never had any experience with winter gear or snow in any way, shape or form.

should i take the deal and use winter tires in the dry, or pass on a great deal and wait for something with summer tires?

You could always sell the tires and get some decent ones...

Winter tires will be boring as hell.

Have you lived on the east coast or in the upper midwest? Winter tires are essential :

Winter tires are meant to be used below 40/35 degrees. You will wear them out VERY fast if you use them in the 55+ degree range

Not only will they wear faster...they are not meant for high temperatures. They can't handle extreme summer weather very well. You may experience sidewall and tread issues. I wouldn't use the for long distance driving where you're bound to build up heat in the tires. Or for any spirited driving. For short distances they'll be fine. But expect to replace them 30% earlier than their expected wear rating if you use them in summer.

I had a set of winter tires on the Taurus and used them all year round and they wore out fast as heck.

+1 on the fast tire wear...

I had to use an almost brand new set of winter tires one summer on my Max and they were toast before the Fall...
