Eugene, I did exactly what redmaxpa007 did, and the calipers came out mint. Go to Home Depot and buy some steel wire brushes and scrub away.

Nathan, I know you got the Folia-Tec paint for the calipers. Were you able to paint yet? If yes, how long did it take ya? I'm contemplating doing it myself...

Terrence, it took me around 3-4 hours in total to paint them because I did 2-3 coats on all four calipers. I'm not sure how long it would take to paint them if you actually took apart the calipers but that may save you some time. The calipers look amazing and they always turn heads. I posted some pics on my website under the "My Maxima" section. Let me know if you want a kit because I have a ton of them in stock. Later,

Nathan

You'll probably need two cans of the brake parts cleaner spray (I use CRC from PepBoys). Have a rag or bucket under the caliper while you spray so that you don't make a huge mess.

Use one layer of primer to make the hi-temp paint adhere easier to the caliper.

so if i just get a wire brush...

it will clean the rust and darkish dirt on the calipers? how about on the inside portion of the rotors? can i use the wire brush too?

how thin should the wire brush be, and will it harm my brake parts in any way??

thanks!!

I just painted mine white off of the car. This was a dumb idea. Being dirty because I was changing brake lines, etc. I went to go put them back on and they got dirty.

Anyone know of any brush-able white hitemp paint?

Thanks.

Personally, I think no matter what, you're looking at trouble
or at least a lot of extra work.

I can see how white calipers would look nice
- especially on a white car [with white rims maybe?].

But brake dust and dirt will show on them very easily
[as you have discovered].

You'll be cleaning your calipers every time you wash the car - or even more often.
And, depending on your wheels, you might have to remove the wheel to do it.

True, but do you recommend any colors? I have the Dark Blue (Neptune Blue), and white rims. I do a lot of white trim, stickers, etc. So, everyone tells me white will look the best, but I though maybe a red might look good too.

I dunno, its hard to paint them.

How 'bout blue? That's what I would do if I decided to paint them.

I don't think it's that hard to paint them
- it'll just take a while to clean up first and to do it right
[masking off everything, spray a light coat,
waiting for it to dry, another coat, psossibly a third...].

I also have a NeptBlue Max.
Was thinking of painting the calipers blue at first,
maybe a bright blue.

But I'm about to get some anthracite wheels with no center cap
so I'll be painting the rotor [the whole center part that gets rusty]
black and I might as well make have the calipers match.

I think it will look nice, but the calipers won't "pop"from behind the wheel
- which I think can also look good.

Red would certainly pop, but it might take attention away from your white wheels,
especially if they don't have many spokes and they're thin
[so you can see the caliper more easily].

And, if you have a kind of blue & white thing going,
white could be nice [you'll just have to keep em clean].

The calipers will get dirty no matter what.
A dark color will show the dirt less.
Maybe a dark red would work?

What about a dark blue as close to the "Neptune" color as possible?
While it would be more subtle, it would require less upkeep
and would simplify your color scheme.
