SC Update ( Long)
Well,it's monday and I'm back in Cleveland with my new SC.
I had a great time in Chicago! too bad I'm an old married man because it's been a long time since Iv'e seen so many young good looking women!!
I met up with SteveChicago at Ultimate Z and he's a great guy with a great car. He also knows how to handle his women, right Steve??
Everything didn't go smoothly with the car. I brought a 3.48 pulley that I bought from Vortex and it wouldn't fit and I spent an hour on the phone with Stillen and Vortex and finally they told us to machine off the nose of the pulley that faces the engine. They did this and put the car back together and the belt was immediately chewed up by the pulley. They had to tear the SC down again and put the original pulley back on and this one worked fine, I don't know what's going on here but I'll get to the bottom of this and find out the correct smaller pulley!! Meanwhile they pulled my JWT computer and overnighted it back to them to change the program for the SC. Also, they didn't install the fuel pressure riser that came with the kit because JW told them not to.They claim with the new ECU program and the larger injectors.there is no need for it.
They also installed new 300ZXTT injectors, new HKS Iridium plugs and the new O2 sensors.
They made a CAI that mounted in the pass. fender. They were able to use the Place Racing CAI that I already had and this was hooked up to a larger 720CFM K&N filter.
After finally getting the car back together we drove back to Cleve and the car ran just fine. There sure is a lot more power but I didn't push it too hard because I did'nt want to be stranded on the road.
I'm still getting too much heat buid up in the engine compartment so they ordered a set of 300ZXTT hood vents that I'll have a body shop install back home.
I have my fingers crossed that I won't experience any V2 problems.
I'll be at Ultimate Z in Des Plaines Ill. outside of
Chicago next week getting my new SC. Jim Wolf highly recommended him.
They'll be putting on the smaller Vortex 3.48 pulley and I'm having 96 300ZXTT fuel injectors installed to make sure I get enough gas with the extra boost.
Also I'm getting NKG BKR 6 EVX-11 plugs.I wanted to use this plug in a 7 heat range but the tech at NGK feels that too much everyday city driving will foul the plugs.
While they're installing the SC,my computer will be overnighted to JWT where they'll reprogram for the SC.
Since my car has been thru 4 rustbelt winters,I'll be changing the 3 O2 sensors to make sure I'll be getting maximum efficiency.
Anyone living around Ultimate Z and would like to get together please let me know. I've already spoken to
SteveChicagoSC and I'll be seeing him.
