Here's a pic of what smoked out taillights look like. This is two light coats of the translucent you can get from autodynamic.com. The paint has been on for about 1.5 years.

i like that dark mysterious look....if my max was black i would do the same think....make it black all around...taillight.....headlight....bumperlights.. ..hell i would even get black rims....no that would be a true "nite rider"...to bad mine is wite so i'll settle with "tite wite rice"...

No, many cars have all smoked rear lights stock. Some Jettas and the Saab 9-5 for example.

Pretty slick!
That looks real nice, especially on a black Max. How do the lights function? Does it brake red, blink amber and reverse clear or are the colors smoked? Looks real good all black and no emblyms, great job! (I'd either shave or paint the keyhole body color though).

I've seen Dave's tail lights in person, and they look even better than they do in that picture, very smooth look.

The pic was taken close to dusk when the tails look nearly black. You can faintly see the outline of the turn signals, brake lights, and reverse lights. The great thing about the paint is that over 90% of the stock lighting still shows thru. The last thing I wanted to have happen was some guy hit me because he couldn't see my brake lights. This stuff isn't like those GTS covers that block 50% of the light.

The look is very close to what you would see on a mid 90s GTI or last generation RX-7, both of which are legal. I don't see why this wouldn't look good on any color Max seeing that the GTI and RX-7 came in a bunch of colors.
