I've got 3 speeding tickets and 1 "comprehensive claim over $3000" on my insurance..
I pay $150/month, US for full coverage, 100/50/100, plus uninsured motorist coverage. (required here on any car that isn't owned outright by the owner I believe)

Here in Canada...

If you get a speeding ticket you get "points". A normal ticket is 3 points, anything over a certain ammount of the speed limit you get more points. If you get 4 or more points a year, instead of your insurance going up, on your birthday you get a nice bill for your points. Pay up or lose your licence.

When I was 19/20 I had my licence suspended twice for having too many tickets....over $1000 in tickets each time and over $1000 in ponts each time.
I've calmed my driving down a bit since then.

$950 every six months. I am in Maryland, no tickets or accidents. It seems high, but I guess it's because I am under 25.

insurance

I pay $64 a month for full collision, $300k liability, comprehensive, uninsured motorist on mine.

I also pay an extra $12 a month for a seperate umbrella liability policy of $1.5 Million in additional liability coverage. A very good idea, worth the few bucks if you've got anything to protect.

stay cool,

Didn't it go down when you where 21? It did when I turned 21, and then my agent said it would go down again when I turn 25.

Hey, max punks, you should sell your currently max and buy older max. that would save your $$$.

mine is state farm. $950/6 months with $250 dct. I like my state farm agent because she is f-u-c-king hot chick. I showed her off my max. I got 3 tickets and I recently got another ticket for fail to stop a month ago.

Well damn, since everyone else is putting in their 2 cents i might as well. I think i might have all of you topped in this subject sadly to say. Current insurance statement as of last month (Sept). I'm paying $7560.90 a year. So this equals out to $630.08 a month. This is the price you pay in NJ. This is full coverage on the 92 Maxima, not my 99 Maxima. If i was to do it under my 99, I would be paying a tick under 5g w/o any points. Let's just say with no points on the 92 Max its 1800 a year but dont forget those points. Any wealthy maxima owners like to help me and do a fund raiser?

Holy Sh*t. 7600/year??? What did you do? I'm paying 2400/year on my 2k, no points, and only one totalled 96 SE in the past three years, and I'm 24.

Im not exactly sure how the whole insurance raises by how much for points but i have plenty of em. Anyone want to share them with me? Well to start NJ insurance is sky high. Right now I'm paying for my 19 points on my insurance and 11 on my license. So far I've been clean for a year and havent had trouble. (knock on wood!) This was just stupid driving when i first got my license and years later, i'm paying for it out my ***. This is damn tough on a college student! Thank god that i still have my 92 max to keep it cheap.

Well... though my insurance is high, at least i paid my maxima off. You can look above to see how much I pay. Everytime i talk about it or see that figure, it scares me! Would anyone like to invest in the Synki's Drive America Fund? hehehe.

Insurance tickets etc

Well guys, it looks like a lot of you are paying out the butt for insurance. As I said, I pay $65 a month for a full comp, collision, and liability policy on my brand new 2000 I30.

I pay a few bucks more a month for an additional umbrella policy that gives me another $1.5MM in liability coverage, in case I really screw up.

Some of you have jostled me about hiring a defense attorney when I get speeding tickets. But -- this is why I have such low insurance rates. Let's do the math.

This year, I got five tickets. Four speeding, one failure to stop for a light. I hired an attorney and fought every single one (won my fifth case this morning). My total attorney's fees come to $1,050.

Had I just pled guilty to all of these tickets (or just tried to represent myself, which is a sure way to lose) then it would have cost something like this:

Fines: $600
License suspensions -- 30? 60 days?: $ ???
Insurance premiums for the next five years: $THOUSANDS
The feeling you get when you win another one: $PRICELESS

Anyway, I seriously think it is worth the $$ to fight every damn ticket you get with all the ammunition you can. Bite the bullet and hire a good defense attorney (not your brother's divorce lawyer) and fight. It doesn't always pay off, but it can.
