my maxima has bunch of scratches dents.. but the worst part is the paint is peeling on some areas. (given its a 10 yr old car)

anyone know any solutions to paint. should i get maaco? or is it a uhoh decision? haha... does anyone know of any good shops that can save me some money in the NJ NY area?

The consensus anywhere you go is that Maaco is horrendous. There's a reason it's so ridiculously cheap--they tape things off badly, the paint is poor quality and will start to degrade very quickly.

I'd agree with others--go to the regional forums and check out any reccommendations people have.

Also, if you do the prep work yourself (stripping and sanding) you can save a considerable amount of money, as that's a big part of the job, but it requires little skill/equipment compared to the actual painting.

 

Stay the hell away from Maaco. Thier paint job is for ricers on the go and old hoopties(sp?) going for thier last hoorah.

Not a fan of MACOFF wit ya money!! I couldn't understand why they only would charge me $700 dollars to repaint my car, when other companies were charging 5K easy!!

Then i saw the finished product ... Bubbles everywhere ... Flakes of paint coming off and showing the original color ... mask marks in the doors ... they don't go inside the engine ... WTF

It cost this guy $1800 and he got a "deal" and all the above was free!! Ended up having to go back, and redone, and then ended up just giving up. Save the heartache ... Deal with the rust and paint chips, instead of a cheap paint job
