Stock Ride Height?..
Stock Ride Height?..
I know that with the aftermarket suspension kits out there you can lower a Max to any level you choose, but how low can I go and yet keep the car's "stock" look without sacrificing roll stiffness?
The reason I ask is that slammed cars are favorite targets for bored suburban cops, and I'd like nothing better than to have a high-performance , but "stock" , innocent looking Max that won't attract negative police feedback lol....

Tein H techs are a mild drop, but if there is one honda in your town no need to worry, the cop will be on him. Plus have you seen the wheel gap on new bmws? You can go with S- techs and still be safe. Lol look at the avatar above my post.
well, if you're trying to keep stock height and still increase roll stiffness, you have other options besides just springs:
- increased-diameter sway bars
- lower tie bar
- poly bushings in suspension
- stiffer struts
- stiffer-sidewall tires (or larger wheels with lower-profile tires)
- reduce weight (no big system in the trunk)
- reduce weight (no big women in car)
Eibach springs give a subtle drop but greatly increase the handling and roll resistance as well....
Besides, if you're more than 1.5" low or so, you're actually hurting handling by creating positive LCA angles and bumps steer...
Now, if you DO want to lower the car, but don't want to attract attention from police, etc:
- get a subtle drop like Eibach or H&R
- get wheels that are not flashy-looking
- don't do anything else illegal on the outside of the car (lights, tint, loud exhaust, etc)
you're not going to get pulled over simply for being 1.5" lower...that's not illegal. You can see my car in the sig pic...1.3" low on Eibachs, 18" G35 wheels....and many people ask me "Is that a new Maxima?" and assume it's stock (my wheel centercaps are Nissan too)..

That makes no sense at all.
