If you can get a Camry to drive like one, then sure. I drive my Max like I stole it. Burn rubber while making a turn, swinging across three or four highway lanes. It will do what I make it do, not what people think it should do.

this could go on and on. its kinda like which came 1st, the chicken or the egg, chicken or the egg, chicken or the egg, chicken or the egg. I consider it as a sports sedan like majority has spoken. i had a guy telling me how he likes my car and maximas. and how it has a luxury-sporty look to them. so consider it as a sports sedan. Compare a Toyota Camry commercial to a Maxima commercial. Nissan is putting it out there as a sports sedan, they're not showing the shifting and the sound of the motor and accelerating for their own good. compared to the camry commercial they're driving it all slow through the city because they're putting it out there as a Family Car. think about it the 4 door cars they usually drive hard or fast on the commercials arent just because. people complain why the IS, STI, TL, Evo, BMW 3 series sedans are so high. because ur also paying for the sportiness or some sporty feature on them just like the MAXIMA.

nevermind what nissan says; out of the box, it's not much sportier then a toyota avalon
bmw could produce m3/m5 (sedans), benz - c36/e55/whatever else they have. but there in no nismo maxima last time i checked. there isn't many nismo parts for us either. that tells me something. what's the difference between a "SE" maxima and gxe/le? better brakes? more HP? sport suspension on the se is a joke. so in my opinion nissan failed to put the real "sports" into maxima whatever ppl think or say here. drive it any way you want. maxima is not the real thing. end of story.

There actually is Nismo parts for the maxima. The funny thing is they released nismo parts for the 6th gen, why not the others though? In my eyes the 6th gen looks sporty and obviously nissan feels the same way.

never looked what 6th gen gets, but 4/5th gen. there isn't much, really, no serious parts... control arms? sway bars? headers? exhaust? cai? strut bars? suspension kits? WHAT do we get from nismo?

that was really smart...making yourself look really dumb. you were trying to say that the 6th gen is the sportiest because it has nismo support, i was disproving that by saying that it doesnt have to be sporty to get nismo support, as a titan gets it too.

that's a funny question.
when i was carshopping back in April...
my girlfriend wanted a comfortable, luxurious family car(that I could afford of course)
i wanted a fast, sporty ride

we ended up with my 2006 SL and we're both happy

so i guess for us it qualifies as both. however, i do acknowledge the drawbacks to the maxima that can be overcome simply with money. if i could afford it, a BMW 745Li would give both me and my girlfriend what we wanted, but it's almost 3x the price of my max

I consider the 3/4th gen as a sporty family car. The 5th gen more family than sports, and the latest to me is basically pure family mainly due to its size.

Sorry, but the maxima is closer to family car than sports car - although I wouldn't argue with 'sporty sedan'. It is a sportier alternative than a lot of other cars in the mid size FWD sedan class and one of the few that offers the V6/MT combo, but with the sixth gen max Nissan seems to have passed the 'Sporty FWD sedan' role to the Altima.

Straight line speed/acceleration alone does not make a sports car and while the Max was way ahead of the pack in acceleration for a while the rest of the pack has gotten faster. The v6 accord is a sub 15 second car stock, and the Legacy GT is close to 14
