I've got a dumb question, but here goes....

LSD:
I'm pretty sure that it stands for Limeted Slip Differential.
This item I think is a form of traction control that will allow your drivetrain to apply more or less power to a wheel depending on the grip the tire has on the rode.Another words if one tire is in ice and the other tire is on a dry peace of pavment,Then say 10% of the power going to the wheels will go to the tire with the ice and 90% of the power will go to the other tire. This system will never allow a tire to peal out during acceleration though.I believe Cheston {Chebesto} looked into this mod and it was not availabe unless a lot of people showed interest in it and where willing to pay about a grand each. This system is currently available on the new 2001 25th anniversary addition maxima and 2000-2001 Infinity I-30T.

hmm...so is this a real good thing to have though? This is what I was thinking (of course I don't have any resources, so please correct me if I'm wrong).... in respect to the icy road example, there is more power being transfered to the wheel with more traction. On a turn, the outside wheel will have less traction and the inside wheel will have more traction. Moving power to the inside wheel would increase understeer, right? And would LSD slow down 0-60 acceleration times? I understand that it gives you more traction, but what if you had slick tires and wanted to peel out to get a better grip on the road? Sorry if this angers anyone, but I'm really curious about the advantages/disadvantages of LSD. Thanks

LSD will not prevent you from spinning your tires. It will prevent ONE tire from spinning itself. it distributes power mechnically to both wheels to maximize traction. Should be better in wet weather also. LSD also reduces torque steer greatly, something im sure we all hate. LSD can reduce your 0-60ft times and help acceleration if your suffering from no traction.
