need help , lost or stolen package.
I finaly got in touch with a terible ebay seller and he finaly gave me a tracking number, says my package arrived on oct 7 ??
(stupid seller gave me the tracking number today after i finaly left him negitive feedback)
it shipped usps.
Either the mail man left it infront of my house and someone stole it , or what are the chances of the post office still having it?
what can i do if the mail man left it and someone stole it????
I am out 100 bucks and a set of taillights!!!
please help

Doesn't sound like it was insured. That would be the easy solution. I'd contact the local post master and confirm what the tracking number says. I'd simultaneously contact the ebayer to confirm the number he gave you.
I'd definitely do the public a service and mention this experience in his feedback.
Unfortunately it sounds like you might be S.O.L.
Insurance, you never need it until you need it.

FWIW, DHL is not much better. They've left shipments on my doorstep as well even when I requested a signed transfer. I always opt for UPS or Fedex in that order. It's worth the extra $ (if any) knowing that I'll get my package.
It doesn't help now, but for future reference, Use FedEx and get a tracking number. There is a spot on the form to require a signature. The USPS will insure packages, but good luck collecting on a claim from them. Whenever I have needed to file a claim, I never have gotten anywhere with it. Nag nag nag, is all you can do. I won't ship with the USPS unless absolutely necessary!

I've worked for UPS (loader and unloader) they are pretty good. I ship with them whenever I can afford to.
FedEx is also pretty good.
DHL is DH'elL - We always got complaints from our (Lexmark) customers about them...

yup this is a leason learned, the ebay seller (aimspot2000) didnt help either, i have been asking him for a tracking number since sept 28th, i finaly got one yesterday after leaving him negitive feedback, If he sent me the tracking number when i asked for it first i could have been home to pick up the package.
the tracking number says i got my package oin the 7th..... i got the tracking number on the 23rd
Im dealing with my C.C. company and it looks like they will give me refund for simply not reciveing my money?
im keeping my fingers crossed..
Next time im gona request sellers to use only ups or fedex or dhl,

They have no clue whats inside and theft of USPS mail is punnishable by law with fines and possible jail time.
Makes no sense at all for somebody to steal that package.....
If it was sent priority mail the USPS will not simply leave it. They try to deliver it 2x, a signature is required, they leave a slip, then it goes back to be held at the main distribution office until you come claim it.
Call or visit your local post office and ask where/when that package was delivered. They should be able to tell you exactly what happened and where it might actually be. You have the tracking #, so use it and let the USPS system figure it out for you. I highly doubt it was stolen.

The people that lived next to me had a package on their step for 3 whole days before someone jacked it. I bet they were mad when they came back from their trip.
I would have held it for them, but they ****ed us with the landlord by calling us out on some BS minor rules.
Best served cold.

makes no sense at all to me either but people do it, just watch your local news, theives are everywere stealing anything . Sucks but thats just life.
I spoke with the usps guy himself today when i saw him, i asked him he said if no one is home he doesnt leave the package( i think he was just covering his ***) . I remeber times that i was home were someone rang the doorbell, i went downstairs and found a package and no one there, if i wasnt home that package would have laid there for hours.
As of right now the credit card comp is on my side

give this a read (just the comments on the bottom, need need to read the email that is posted.)

Cliffs: It's up to the shipper to file the claim with FedEx or UPS and it's up to the customer to let the shipper know what happened.

ya i emailed the seller, all he keeps asking me to do is remove the negitive feedback because he shipped my item and its not his fault. But the feedback is staying cause i know he can somehow get his money back if he wanted to.
Am I the only one who hates UPS... They have lost, damaged, sent package to wrong place, get it in 14 days after a trip around the country; several times...
I have yet to have a problem with DHL, I heard they have lost stuff but so does everyother carrier, it just has not happened to you yet.
Fed-Ex is really good also. But, whenever I ship through DHL I get it MUCH earlier than expected and in perfect shape.

I've worked for UPS. They could use some improving (those new scanners FTL) but for the most part we tried our hardest to get those packages loaded on the right truck and unloaded with the least amount of damage needed. Can't speak for the drivers though. There is a lot of automation but they still require every label to be inspected and scanned by the loader before it gets loaded, but believe me it's easy to frak up.
I think my average was 1 miss route per 2000 packages, and I was just average.

UPS managed to "lose" a tranny i shipped to another member awhile back. they were decent with the insurance though and gave me a refund but how you lose a 100lb 24/18/18" box is beyond me.
Every company has it's problems that can be cited by many members here. FedEx ground lost a car part for over 6 months that another .org member sent me. Hectic had a transmission (yes -- a big heavy Maxima transmission) lost by UPS. I think it's still lost.
As for this particular case, the USPS sounds like they are giving you the runaround, which is bullcrap.
First, you tell them that you never authorized for any parcels to be left at your place. Obviously, it was unsafe to leave it. It was scanned "delivered" but you were not there to receive it and the carrier should have left a notice. He can be punished for that, at least given a LOW.
I would also call the Postal Inspection service. They can at the very least give the supervisor a butt chewing for letting the carrier leave a parcel at your place. I doubt they will care too much about your parcel, though.

For anyone else worried about this, I highly suggest you write a letter to your post office stating that you don't want ANY parcels left at your house if no one is there to receive it. Say that you want a notice left for everything. You could also call 1-800-ASK-USPS and go through the phone system and get the same results.
