my warranty expires this october and I got one small A/C noise problem with it, bringing it in to the dealership next week, and a lot of my parts under the car is all rusty due to canadian winter... my max has been pretty much problemless so far, but I'm kinda worry about the tanny, because I do drive pretty hard and my dad loves to push the peddal down to make it downshift for no reason

its not a math problem...

its an eye chart test... you must read the fine print carefully. A/C, radio, electrical, rust, etc. may not be covered in the extended warranty. I have Nissan Gold and it's FAR from being bumper to bumper. Matter of fact, when I got my packet in the mail I was very tempted to ask for a refund (being that powertrain is already 5/60 standard).

Also, I think there have been some changes recently to the warranty's exclusions from my discussions with Nissan NA.

That may be true, Tim. But I have yet to own an extended warranty where the warranty turned out to be more expensive than the cost of repairs that were eventually covered under the warranty. In other words, I've never lost a dime on an extended warranty.

Obviously, most people are not in this situation...

I turned it down on mine simply because of the miles I drive. I did almost 50k last year alone. So any "extended" warranty coveraege would have been eaten up in a matter of months. I had one on the last car I had, but the I ended up paying more on the "deductable" per problem I had than on the warranty itself. And a lot of the stuff I needed done was not covered.

Check w/ your insurance company too. I know Geico offers an exteneded mechanical warranty of some sort , but there are some qualifications you need to meet to get it(like you have to start it's coverage w/ less than 15k miles on the car), but it was only an additional $12/6mos (WAY cheaper than the factory or 3rd party ones), and it was pretty comprehensive for the parts covered.
