Auto guys a new idea to get lower ET's.......
I was thinking that if our auto's had shorter gears we would get lower ET's. Now since getting new gears or a final made is out of the question. How about trying smaller diameter tires just for the track? I believe stock tire size is 205/65-15s, some 205/50-15 would reduce gearing by 24%. According to C&D (june 98) with stock 205/65-15s the autos reach 47, 84, 130, 188 at the redline. With these 205/50-15's its 36, 64, 100, 144. These means that instead of finishing around 4500-5000 in 3rd gear you would be turning around 6000-6500 at the end. Basically this would give you more 1st gear than a 5spd, a good 2nd gear and you'd finish right where you want to be in 3rd gear. Until my engine died my plan was to get 2 extra wheels for my drag or street racing tires. My stock tires are 195/60-15s so I was gonna put on some 205/50-14s (Comp T/A drag radials hehe) so my gears would be 10% shorter. Since I would have had more powerband I could shift later and would gain sometime there. I figure you can get wheels for around $80 and the DR's are about $114 each from tirerack.

BTW did you know that my CRX has smaller than normal rolling diameter? 205.40.16 is smaller than the 185/65?-14s

your gonna need it for that 9000rpm too....
The stock SE-R wheels I got from russ have 185/60-14s I think. When you gonna take me for a ride in your CRX? I bet it rides real good, because the SE-R has the AGX's adn eibachs so I love it.
