---

One of my friends that works in the petro industry
sent me an offical internal memo from a major oil
company that he works for with bad news.

Come August 1st all premium fuel sold in california
will be 91 octane from now on! That mean our turbo
cars and high compression cars like my 200SX will be
hating life.

I got to find a ***** line and we can spread the word
so the greedy oil companies will be flooded with
complaints!

The memo said that any high performance cars that
cannot run well on 91 octane are welcome to buy brand
X's 100 octane unleaded racing fuel for a butt reaming
price.

As soon as I find the consumer affairs phone number.
lets spread the word so they cannot get away with
this.

Unfortunately

The gas that's sold in Cali is "only" made in Cali. So unlike other states, the oil comp here can not go next door and shop around for cheaper gas. It's that special gas that's suppose to help reduce the smog effect, b/s if you ask me. Chow

Which octane booster are you using? How often do you use it? I wonder if you use it too much if it's going to do damage to the engine. I use Castrol Syntec Power System.

octane booster

you can find a large variety at any pepboys/autozone, or any auto parts store. i'm not really sure on which brands are better than others, but you should research first before you buy.

CA tends to be a state ahead of the rest, not behind. Why people love to start rumours perhaps we'll never know. They also said $3 per gallon gasoline by the end of summer too. Our prices have dropped by .14 per gallon since Memorial Day. Would have to go up by about another 1.55 to reach $3. But a su**** is born every day. No more premium in CA. bah!

Where in California can you buy gas for $1.45/gallon?? I pay $2.15/gallon for super and that is considered cheap!

Costco rules!!! I've been filling up there since it hit the $2.00 mark (a couple of months now). My only concern is if the gas is any good. I don't want it to be another ARCO in disguise. Boom! There goes my engine.

I'm on the East cost fyi

Just because I say CA is ahead of other states doesn't mean I live there :-)

My point is people like to post things that have "shock" value. I don't know why they enjoy doing that. It would be like if I were to say I saw a internal memo saying Las Vegas is going to run out of water, there would probably be some gullible fools who would copy the post all over the place and scare people, and then a very very few that would even believe it and worry. You think Kobe and Shaq are gonna bother mixing octane booster into their tanks because CA only has 91 octane? Common sense people!

I paid $1.57 yesterday in Culpepper, VA for 93 octane! Around here in MD 91 octane is hard to find, so I usually get 93 for around $1.87 a gallon.

What's wrong with Arco and what other stations should people be afraid of?

Arco has always been fine for me, never had a problem, my dad hasnt had a problem there since time begun! all gases have to folow the same basic rules... other stations spend the extra $$$ you pay at the pump for BS advertisements haha like "special additives" haha watever... i've never had a problem with Arco... *sigh* there used to be this station in Huntington beach that sold premium gas for ~1.29 a gallon... like only 2 years ago... now its 2.sumthin

but the 3dollar thing? i heard thats true that the state regulators are willing to let it go that high.. maybe not that it will... its really bad the margins for crude oil to the pump has doubled in the last year or so... basically the Oil companies are making big money... heres a list of costs to produce a $1.87 gallon of regular unleaded according to the California Energy Comission

Crude Oil Cost- $.61
Refining Costs*- $.75
State Excise Tax- $.18
Federal Excise Tax- $.18
State/local Taxes- $.14
Gas Station Profits- $.01
* Includes 5-8 cents for clean air additives

All the gas stations here already use 91 octane for their premium fuel, so it won't be any different..
