Reversed polarity?
Reversed polarity?
Didnt really know where to put this thread so Mods.. move it if you wish. But i was looking at a lexus sc300 and the guy said that it has a "reversed polarity" issue. Literally looking at the word "reversed polarity" i automatically think about a magnet, positive, negative symbols. But what does this mean in this case? Heres the link..

He's talking about electrical polarity (kinda like your magnet). But when hooked up backwards, diodes in the alternator and other electrical circuits become damaged. Noting that his car does not run ... :duh:
likely the computer, alternator are fried.

more like bad driving. Put a good clutch in a drive right, it will last almost a lifetime.
that was his point. beating on the car or poor driving... either one spells short clutch life.
the electrical problem may simply be fixed with new fusible links... that's all it took to fix the problems with my Maxima several years ago when I hooked it up backwards... but dunno with Lexus/toyota.
even then, I'd stay away from it. the car has been ridden hard and put up wet. it's not even worth the asking price, IMo.

Buy it and save money to get the 1JZGTE or the 2JZGTE put in there and by the panels for the 98-01 body style and you'll have one sexy beast!!! I had one of those before they are kinda sluggish compared to the Max.
